Paul Mitchell (hairdresser)

Paul Mitchell, born Cyril Thomson Mitchell (January 27, 1936 - April 21, 1989), was a Scottish and American hairstylist and co-founder of the hair care product company John Paul Mitchell Systems in 1980.

Early life

His mother Jenny was Carnwath's first hairdresser. Mitchell was very proud of his Scottish roots and was reportedly "a Scot through and through." His family moved to London in 1939. He trained as a silver smith before following in his mother's footsteps. At age sixteen, Mitchell enrolled in Morris School of Hairdressing in London, and by eighteen, won multiple hairdressing competitions.

Personal life

Mitchell married a Polish-Filipina fashion model named Jolina. Their only child, Angus Mitchell, was born in 1970. Four years later Mitchell sold his salon Superhair and moved to Hawaii.

In 1985, Mitchell established a fully functional awapuhi farm on the Big Island of Hawaii.

On July 18, 1988, Mitchell was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He died in 1989 in Cedars Sinai Medical Center, leaving behind his son Angus, fiancee Millie, and mother Jenny. He is buried on his estate on the Big Island of Hawaii. Angus has carried on his father's legacy of John Paul Mitchell Systems & Schools (along with John Paul DeJoria) and created his own salon, AngusM in Beverly Hills, CA.

Paul Mitchell (broadcaster)

Paul Mitchell (born 18 December 1968 in Edinburgh) is a Scottish football commentator for BBC Scotland and was their main commentator for a six-year period from 2004–2010.

His past co-commentators include Pat Nevin and Ian McCall – Mitchell is currently joined by either Craig Paterson or Billy Dodds when commentating on live matches for BBC Scotland's Sportscene programme.

He started his broadcasting career with the BBC in 1991 as a football reporter, moving into Radio Commentary in 1998. His first television commentary appearance was in February 2001, covering the Scottish Cup. Mitchell has covered 13 major Scottish Finals, seven Scottish Cup Final and six League Cup Finals, and has also commentated on a wide range of domestic, European and international matches. In 2007 he covered the under-20 World Cup Finals in Canada. and he has also appeared on Match of the Day. In addition to television work, he can also be regularly heard on BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound programmes, providing live commentary of Scottish Premier League, European football and Women's International and Champions League matches.

Paul Mitchell (footballer, born 1981)

Paul Mitchell (born 26 August 1981) is an English former footballer, who is currently 'Head of Recruitment' for Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur. As a defender and midfielder, he has represented for outfits such as Wigan Athletic, Halifax Town, Swindon Town, Milton Keynes Dons, Wrexham and Barnet.

Playing career

He started his career in 1999 with Wigan Athletic where he stayed for six years. Mitchell left Wigan shortly after their promotion to the Premiership, a campaign in which he made just one league appearance against Leeds United. During this time he was loaned out to Halifax Town in 2001, Swindon Town in 2004 and Milton Keynes Dons in 2005. He transferred fully to the Dons in 2005, where he played until 2008 with short loan spells in 2007 to Wrexham and 2008 to Barnet FC. Mitchell made over 70 appearances for the Milton Keynes Dons and was also the captain for a short while.

On 6 January 2009, Mitchell announced his retirement from professional football age 27, owing to injury following a bad break to his leg and ankle during his team's 2–2 draw at Notts County on 2 February 2007. On retirement Milton Keynes Dons announced that he will take up a role as 'Community Ambassador' with the clubs Sport and Education trust.

Paul Mitchell (American football)

Paul Anthony Mitchell (born August 10, 1920) is a former American football defensive end and tackle who played two seasons with the New York Yanks of the National Football League. He played college football at the University of Minnesota where he was an All-American. He previously attended Edison High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Mitchell also played in the All-America Football Conference for the Los Angeles Dons from 1946 to 1948, and for the New York Yankees from 1948 to 1950. He is a member of the University of Minnesota Hall of Fame.

Paul Graham Frederick Mitchell, OAM (born 24 October 1970 in England) is a Paralympic athlete with an intellectual disability from Western Australia, Australia.

Athletics Career

At the 1992 Paralympic Games for Persons with Mental Handicap in Madrid, Spain, he won a silver medal in the Men's 1500 m. Competing at the 1994 IPC Athletics World Championships, he won a gold medal in the Men's 800 m T20. At the 1998 IPC Athletics World Championships, he competed in two events winning a silver medal in the Men's 5000m T20 and twelfth in the Men's 1500 m T20.

He won a gold medal, with a personal best, at the 2000 Sydney Games in the men's 1500m T20 event, for which he received a Medal of the Order of Australia. In 2000, he received an Australian Sports Medal. In 2000, he was a carpenter.
